As The Designer Coach®, I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in my coaching practice. This code of ethics serves as a guide for my professional behaviour and a promise to my clients, colleagues, and the wider design community.
Core Values and Principles
My code of ethics is rooted in the following core values and principles:
1. Creativity: I believe in the transformative power of creativity and its ability to unlock human potential.
2. Integrity: I conduct my business with honesty, transparency, and professionalism.
3. Empowerment: I am dedicated to empowering designers to reach their full potential.
4. Innovation: I continuously seek new ways to improve and innovate in my coaching practice.
5. Inclusivity: I create a welcoming and supportive environment for all designers, regardless of background or experience.
6. Sustainability: I am committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
Ethical Standards
Responsibility to Clients
1. I clearly communicate the nature and potential value of coaching, as well as my qualifications, to clients before beginning our work together.
2. I maintain strict confidentiality with all client information, unless required by law to disclose.
3. I establish clear agreements and contracts with clients and sponsors, outlining our roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
4. I respect my clients’ right to terminate the coaching relationship at any time, subject to the provisions of our agreement.
5. I remain alert to the impact of my own physical, mental, and emotional well-being on my ability to serve my clients effectively.
Professional Conduct
1. I accurately represent my qualifications, expertise, and experience as The Designer Coach®.
2. I continually strive to improve my coaching skills through ongoing education and professional development.
3. I recognise and honour the contributions and intellectual property of others.
4. I maintain clear, appropriate, and culturally sensitive boundaries with my clients.
5. I do not engage in any sexual or romantic relationships with current clients.
Conflicts of Interest
1. I disclose any potential conflicts of interest to clients and take appropriate action to address them.
2. I only accept forms of compensation that do not adversely affect my coaching relationships.
3. I do not knowingly take advantage of any personal, professional, or financial aspects of the coach-client relationship.
Responsibility to the Profession
1. I uphold the ethics and standards of the coaching profession.
2. I contribute to the advancement of the coaching profession through my conduct and professionalism.
3. I respect my fellow coaches and do not knowingly make false or misleading statements about their services.
Responsibility to Society
1. I avoid discrimination and strive to promote equality and inclusivity in all my activities.
2. I am aware of my impact on society and strive to “do good” rather than merely “avoid bad”.
3. I use my skills and knowledge as a coach to contribute positively to the design community and society at large.
